About Me

My initial training in Architecture gave me a great understanding of space, light and shade, and the reflective qualities of different materials. I have brought this understanding into my work as a photographer and believe that it has helped me to capture my subjects in the most evocative and flattering way. I shoot both on location and in the studio with equal regularity, working with a combination of daylight, flash and HMI to create cleanly lit, colour consistent, graphic compositions. Many of my clients are fabric, wallpaper, soft furnishings and paint retailers or Interior Designers and Architects for whom colour accuracy is paramount. From image capture, through processing to retouching and colour conversions, my digital workflow has been finely tuned to help ensure that what is seen through the lens is reproduced beautifully on screen and in print.

My work has taken me as far a field as South Africa, New Zealand, The Pacific Islands, Mexico, USA, China and Indonesia. I became such a regular visitor to Cape Town that in 2005 I bought a house there (near Simon's Town on False Bay) over looking the sea, specifically for photographic location use. I now return often with Clients from the UK to shoot feel-good, sunny images during the dreary British Winter months. I have extensive knowledge of locations, climate and production services there and many personal contacts on the ground who can help organise shoot facilities. I cannot recommend the place highly enough for staging all types of photographic project and am happy to offer advice and information on any aspect of doing so.

My pictures and features have appeared in the UK's best known Homes and Lifestyle titles from Homes and Gardens to Living etc, Elle Decoration to Period Living, Red, Woman and Home, Ideal Home and House Beautiful, as well as many weekend supplements. I have contributed to almost thirty books, twelve of these exclusively, and have helped produce countless brochures and websites for companies large and small in the homes, lifestyle and travel sector, alongside many boutique hotels and guest houses.

I live 40 minutes from the centre of London in the beautiful Chiltern Hills, with my wife Kate and our three young children Fynn, Jacob and Edie. Away from work and when not driving the 'Dad Taxi' or building the tree house (I will finish it one day kids I promise), I am usually to be found hurtling down a steep slope with limited control on my mountain bike, despite being old enough to know better.

Thank you to all the great Stylists, Art Directors and Assistants who have helped me create these images...you know who you are....and to you for visiting the site.
